Metro Exodus PC Enhanced Edition is releasing soon

A new enhanced edition for the popular story-driven FPS shooter Metro Exodus is coming soon to PC. Developer 4A Games will be launching it as a independent version for those who prefer to play the game on PC with enhanced visuals.

We are pleased to announce that the Metro Exodus PC Enhanced Edition – a radical update that harnesses the power of Ray Tracing-capable GPUs to deliver an incredible visual upgrade..”, says the announcement on the game’s official website.

The Enhanced Edition will be available for FREE to all those that own the original game Metro Exodus on Steam, Epic Games, GOG and Microsoft Windows Store.

The new version is not a simple patch to the base game and is a separate extensive product. It will be offered as an “extra entitlement” to all those who want to run the game with enhanced graphics & ray tracing on and have the system with hardware capabilities to run it.

The Enhanced PC Edition is available for PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG and Microsoft Windows Store. Save games on Steam, Epic Games Store & GOG will transfer over to the newer version, but level progress will remain with the version it belongs to. No save progress will transfer over for the Microsoft Windows Store as the save game files are encrypted in their[Microsoft’s] cloud solution per-product. This enhanced version of the game isn’t available through cloud streaming services like Amazon Luna or Google Stadia.

We would suggest you to complete your current chapter before switching to the enhanced edition as even though both games share the same game directory and chapter saves will transfer over, progress inside the level will not. The developers have clearly stated that progress inside of a level remains with the version it was created on.

The Metro Exodus PC Enhanced Edition is only designed for ray tracing to be on and it will be released on May 6, 2021.
