Battlefield 6 might not release on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, according to rumours

According to a popular leaker, Tom Henderson, Battlefield 6 might not release on the previous generation consoles i.e. PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. Henderson recently tweeted out talking about the game where he talked about the game’s release for past gen consoles.

The problem here is that Battlefield 6 is also rumored to join the Xbox Game Pass service on day 1 and if the game doesn’t launch on previous gen consoles, it will make the majority player base unhappy. Henderson’s tweet also suggests that Battlefield 6 launching day one on the Xbox Game Pass will just be a way of driving sales in an attempt to counter the potential loss of player base from previous gen consoles.

This of course is an assumption made by him and should be taken with a pinch of salt. Still, it very well could be true, considering the statement made by EA DICE about the game.

Bringing out Battlefield [in 2020], where the new console base is fairly small, doesn’t really give justice to the potential of the title, and so that’s part of our driver in moving the title into fiscal 22,” EA management told GameSpot back in 2020. EA also said that the title will be “targeting new innovation that will be enabled by next-gen platforms.”

As you can see, there was no reference to a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One release.

There’s still a lot of time for the launch of Battlefield 6, so we probably won’t get any concrete information or confirmation from EA DICE anytime soon.

It is also being rumored that the game will be set in a modern day near future setting, approximately 10 years from now. Henderson also said, “Per sources, I can confirm that the next Battlefield instalment will simply be called BATTLEFIELD” in one of his newsletters.

We might also see a battle royale mode in the game which might not be available at launch but will be added later.
