Take-Two Interactive CEO comments on potential GTA remasters and GTA V port for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S
Last year, Rockstar announced that GTA V will be coming to PlayStation 5 & Xbox Series X|S. Recently Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive talked about the GTA V port, Rockstar’s Strategy and more while speaking at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom Conference(transcribed by Video Games Chronicle).
Talking about the impact a potential remaster could have on Rockstar’s strategy, “I’m not sure there’ll be a bigger part of the strategy.” said Strauss Zelnick. “We’ve done differently than the competition – we don’t just port titles over, we actually take the time to do the very best job we can making the title different for the new release, for the new technology that we’re launching it on“. He further added, “So, we improve the technology, we upgrade the visuals, and we make performance enhancements. And that’s why I think our remastered titles typically do so well.”
Speaking about the GTA V port for PS5 & Xbox Series X|S he said, “Obviously, I’m confident that Rockstar is going to deliver just a great experience, but you can’t do that if you’re just doing a simple port.“
This hints that the game coming to PlayStation 5 & Xbox Series X|S will be more than just a port. It could be some additional features, content, graphical settings, etc.
During the same conference, Zelnick was also asked about GTA 6, to which he then replied, “So, Rockstar hasn’t announced any new titles for the market and when there’s an announcement to be made, it will come from Rockstar, so I’ll probably leave you there, and I don’t think you would have expected anything different from me”.
We don’t know for how long Rockstar wants to keep the GTA 6 project a top secret, and whether they will ever reveal something outside of an official announcement.
At least, for now we know that the GTA V port will not be “simple” and will be more than just a port. This just goes to show that Rockstar cares about the overall experience on the newer platforms.
