Sony announces PlayStation 5 Showcase event for September 16th
Sony has announced a PlayStation 5 Showcase event for September 16th 1 pm PDT / 9 pm BST / 10 pm CEST. The event will start at 1 AM IST (September 17th) as per Indian Time Zone.
The event will go on for approximately 40 minutes where the focus will be on upcoming games for the next-gen console by Sony and other third party publishers.
You can watch the event live on both Twitch and YouTube.
The event is said to be “one more look at some of the great games coming to PS5” before the console’s launch, which is sometime this holiday season.
Sony states that the digital showcase event will feature “updates on the latest titles from Worldwide Studios and our world-class development partners.“
Sony is yet to reveal the launch date and price for PlayStation 5 and the PlayStation 5 Digital, but now that Microsoft has revealed the launch date and price for Xbox Series X and Series S, it is safe to assume that Sony will make its announcements soon.
Sony is likely to announce the price or launch date if not both in this event, as the preorder date for its competitor is coming close day by day. PlayStation wouldn’t want to risk losing potential customers by not revealing details in time.
The Xbox Series X is priced at $499, while the less-powerful, non-4K version, the Xbox Series S is priced at $299. Preorder begins September 22nd.
Sony, coming in late with the reveal, now can adjust the pricing to gain an edge in this battle of the next-gen consoles.
Now that the PS5 will be competing against Xbox Series X and the PS5 Digital against the Xbox Series S, it is likely that Sony will try to slightly under cut at least one if not both of Microsoft’s Xbox next-gen consoles with the pricing.

Today, I went to the beachfront with my kids.
