Logitech G102 – A budget friendly gaming mouse

The G102 is a gaming mouse coming from Logitech which lies in the budget segment, below ₹2000 to be specific. The mouse is quite popular because it is a premium quality mouse that’s available at a cheap price.

The G102 is similar to the G Pro mouse in shape. It comes with the mercury “gaming grade” sensor, which isn’t the best in class, but still is pretty good for the price. The mouse feels responsive and smooth, the sensor is accurate and most importantly, the mouse is lightweight. The mouse itself is 85g approximately in weight. While the weight of the mouse is something that’s not important to many, to me it definitely is.

Just like any other traditional gaming mouse, the G102 has the classic 6 button design (LMB, RMB, Scroll Wheel, Forward, Backward & DPI).

The mouse supports Plug N Play, but if you need to map the buttons, you will have to use the Logitech G Hub software. Once mapped the setting saved to the onboard memory of the mouse, meaning you won’t have to remap it every time you use it.

No braided cable for the G102

The mouse doesn’t come with a braided cable, but that’s not a big issue as the cable is quite durable and you probably will not experience any problems with it.

But what you might experience problems with is the double clicking issue. Logitech G102 Prodigy has always been under fire for the accidental double click problem. While some claim that the issue has been resolved in the LightSync edition, some are still experiencing it.

The G102 has 2 years of limited hardware warranty, which definitely is a plus considering its price.

Editions:

Over the years the G102 has undergone some minor as well as major changes. The mouse now comes in two distinct types. The G102 Prodigy and G102 Lightsync. The newer G102 Lightsync comes with two color variants, black and white. Also, it’s a little harder to find the white variant.

Price:

You can get a G102 anywhere between 1500 INR to 2000 INR and maybe even cheaper at a retailer. During Amazon sales, you might be able to get it at a discount price, but only if you are lucky enough as it runs out of stock really quickly because of its popularity.

You will often see the G102 compared with the G Pro, as they are pretty similar, the biggest difference being that the G Pro has a better sensor, but also comes at a higher price point.

Our Take:

The G102 is a really good mouse, and you should definitely consider it if you are looking for a gaming mouse under INR 2000. While there are also some other great options in the budget segment, the G102 edges over its competition.
