Halo Infinite bots aren’t actually teabagging you, that’s what the developer says

During the Halo Infinite technical preview, players reported that the NPC bots are teabagging the human players. According to Halo Infinite’s developer 343 Industries, the NPC bots in the game are not teabagging you, as they aren’t programmed to do it.

A Reddit user who goes by the name AfixeVI shared a clip on the r/halo subreddit that showed an NPC bot teabagging a player in the game after taking him down.

Also, a Twitter user @reqsihw shared a similar clip.

These clips quickly caught everyone’s attention and went viral as everyone was surprised that the bots were teabagging.

Now even though a reputed studio like 343 Industries wouldn’t do something like this on purpose, were the bots actually teabagging was the question on everyone’s mind. The answer is no. It is a bug.

343 Industries cleared the air by confirming that the bots aren’t actually teabagging, talking to Eurogamer. “We don’t have explicit programming that tells the bots to teabag or taunt you in any way.“, says the developer.

An example of what could look like teabagging is a bug with bot traversal that was in the technical preview build.

“It caused bots to fail to successfully jump and clamber on the edge of stairs or ramps. A bot’s feet would leave the ground very briefly, then play a landing animation when they failed the jump, and they’d get stuck in an animation loop that could look like crouching rapidly. If that happened to be observed shortly after a kill, or near a player’s body, it can definitely feel like an intentional behavior. In reality, the bot was just struggling to go up the stairs“, explained 343 Industries.

The developer further added, “The bots are meant to be welcoming and fun for players of all skill levels, and a feature designed to taunt a player would oppose that goal.

Now it is up to you if you want to believe the developer or not. Before the actual final build releases, the issue will probably get patched nonetheless.
