Gearbox Entertainment is developing a Brothers in Arms game

Gearbox Entertainment, the studio behind Borderlands is working on a Brothers in Arms game. This was revealed by Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford during a recent session of The AIAS(Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences) Game Maker’s Notebook Podcast. He talked about how SEGA and Fox rushed him into announcing Aliens: Colonial Marines.

Stressing on the point how announcing games too early can be a problem, he mentioned about the Brothers in Arms game and how he won’t be saying much about the game till it’s near release. This is something Gearbox also did with Borderlands 3.

I didn’t even announce Borderlands 3 until it was in beta,” Pitchford said. “It sucks because I know there’s a lot of people —we’re working on another Brothers In Arms game, but I’m not saying ****[anything] until we have it. We have fans that really love that [series], but they’re just going to have to suffer.

Brothers in Arms is a franchise of tactical shooter games set during and currently has 10 titles apart from the one in development. The first game in the franchise launched in 2005 and the last entry in the franchise was in 2014 in the form of a mobile game called, ‘Brothers in Arms 3: Sons of War‘.

Back in April 2020 it was announced that Gearbox is working on a Brothers In Arms TV series along with popular American writer Scott Rosenbaum. “The first season will reveal the biggest scandal of WWII, one which miraculously was kept secret for 40 years.” said the announcement post. And even about this, there are no other details since. It seems that Gearbox just doesn’t want to reveal any details in advance.

There isn’t much known about the next Brothers in Arms game, and like Pitchford said, no details will be revealed till the development is closer to completion.

Whenever the next Brothers in Arms comes out, it’ll be interesting to see how it holds against shooter games from other franchises such as Call of Duty and Battlefield.

Gearbox Studios recently also announced a Borderlands spin-off, ‘Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands‘ which is scheduled to launch next year in March.
