Fnatic might be shutting down its operations in India

Fnatic might soon be shutting down its operations in India, according to a report by Talkesport.

A source close to Fnatic India has disclosed this information exclusively to TalkEsport, that Fnatic will be leaving India very soon“, says the report. Considering that TalkEsport claims that the information comes from someone close to the organization, it could very well be the true.

Back in 2019 Fnatic entered PUBG Mobile esports in India. Fnatic saw good support from the Indian esports community and soon their lineup in India became one of the most popular PUBG Mobile esports teams in the country. But since the PUBG Mobile ban the organization’s operations have slowed down significantly.

PUBG Mobile was banned under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act. “They are engaged in activities which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public ordersaid the Ministry back then.

PUBG Mobile was banned back in September 2020 alongwith 117 other apps by MeitY(Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology).

It’s been more than 6 months since the PUBG Mobile ban in India, and there seems to be no solid information on if the game can make a comeback. Krafton is trying its best to get the game unbanned in India, but there haven’t been any green flags from the government yet.

Fnatic’s main focus was always PUBG Mobile since its entry into Indian esports and hence the PUBG Mobile ban impacted the organization a lot.

This is massive. We might be seeing a big esports organization withdraw its operations from a region like India because of the PUBG Mobile ban.

Since the ban most big organizations have released their professional players. Some of the prominent players have started content creation, others switched games and some are still waiting for the game to get unbanned.

If the information is true, then this definitely is sad news. But let’s hope this is not a goodbye and hope that Fnatic does comeback to India in the future, may it be for PUBG Mobile if the game does get unbanned or may it be for a different title.
