Discord is testing out ‘Watch Together’ YouTube integration
Discord, the social platform is now testing a YouTube integration feature called ‘Watch Together‘ that will let members watch videos together in the voice channels.
Discord had this feature in testing about 10 months ago, but then it just disappeared. Google forcing the music bots on Discord the shutdown might be the reason why this integration has been re-prioritized by Discord. (Source: The Verge)
It seems that this feature is still in experimentation and availability is limited. Discord plans to roll out this feature to all its users by the end of October. Till then you can test out the feature in the Discord Games Lab server.
Here’s how you can try out the feature ahead of its public launch.
Steps:
1. After entering the Discord Games Lab server, enter any voice channel and you will see the ‘Start an Activity’ feature.
2. Click on it to see the ‘Watch Together‘ and other activities.
3. You will have to agree to the following in order to access the feature.
As you can see in the above image, you might see ads just like the way you do on the YouTube app or Desktop site.
Currently, with the Watch Together there are also two other activities, Poker Night and Chess In The Park with more beta activities coming soon.
